THE PROJECT

Each year an Edinburgh based creative is approached to design the branding / visuals for the year’s ‘Creative Edinburgh Awards’. There are 9 awards in total, with three ‘Pilars’; Project (Commercial, Student and Creativity), People (Independent, Leadership and Collaboration) and Place (Startup, Social and City). I was asked to design the awards in my style. I used in bold colour, humour, fun and striking visuals and brought to life the awards with my illustration style. The team then developed physical awards that mirrored the designs I had created based on stacked cubes. I wanted the awards to become literal pillars, so they connected to form the ‘pillar’ categories of the awards.

Once I had developed these visuals I brought them further to life with animation to make the awards ceremony feel connected to the static imagery and awards. Following the pandemic and lockdowns I wanted the branding to be vibrant, fun and encouraging. Finding humour in the imagery. The resulting visuals celebrate the vibrancy of the creative scene in Edinburgh and Scotland.
